[IX.] Health Care Response

When a rape occurs, a health care official or associate is usually called in to assess the extent of the crime. With this, the main focus of the examination is with the victim's well-being in mind. Anonymity is crucial in this, and the victim is held anonymous at all costs. A rape kit is introduced to gain information on the rape and any evidence that can be compiled to gain information on the culprit. In addition, therapy and any other help that the victim most likely will need is also made way for the victim. The trauma associated with this occurrence is not to be taken lightly by any means, and health care is essential to the rehabilitation and growth of the victim or survivor.
