The first blog topic that I will be dealing within this blog is with defining rape. First of all, I will define the terms in my own words, or what I believe the term is defined as. Then, I will cite one or two sources as to the real definition of the term.
RAPE:
(My definition): I believe rape is sexual contact or intercourse without the consent of the other person. This person, the victim, does not openly consent to the interaction with the other person, being forced to interact with that person. Statutory rape deals with the rape of an underage person with an of-age person.
(The definition): Rape is defined as the unlawful compelling of a woman through physical force or duress to have sexual intercourse, and any act of sexual intercourse that is forced upon a person[1]. Also, it is defined as "first-degree sexual assault" referring to non-consensual sexual intercourse that is committed by physical force, threat of injury, or other duress. A lack of consent can include the victim's inability to say "no" to intercourse, due to the effects of drugs or alcohol [2]. In the state of Maryland, statutory rape is defined as sexual interaction between a minor (14 years of age) and a legal adult (18 years of age) [3].
