PERVASIVE GAME:
A type of interactivity that expands past artificial intelligence or a console, but into the actual physical world. Real life and the game are intertwined. Expands within time, space, social interaction. Examples:

  1. Temporally (time) - the amount of time associated within the game, there usually is no limit to the amount of time dealing with the game.
  2. Spatially (space) - Ordinary games or interaction is within a set space (video games, board game) whereas pervasive games extend to the real world space.
  3. Socially (interactivity) - Non-players can become a part of a pervasive game without knowing they are participating or adding to the game. Traditional games are set to a certain number of players and only those players can interact throughout the game

+ magic circle - metaphor that outlines the game from ordinary life. This serves as an alternate reality in which participants voluntarily interact within the structure viewing it as sufficient to their interaction or gaming

+ larp - live action role-playing - basically a type of gaming where roles are assumed and acted out within a set space or magical circle.
