[IV.] Why a bystander and not a voice?

It is very common that a bystander to a rape or sexual assault do not jump in and do not interact or stop the crime that is or will happen remotely quickly.

Why I think they become impartial?
--- The main reason I feel that bystanders are bystanders because of what they perceive to be a very dangerous situation. The main reason that they do not step in is due to the fear of actually becoming a part of the violence that is occurring in front of them. By stepping in, they have a chance of being targeted by the offender or culprit. By making it known that they are watching, they might be targeted as well to scare them into not telling anyone.

--- The following is a dialog between a bystander and the other parties involved:

A iz the Bystander
B1 iz the woman
B2 iz the man

B2: Where is my dinner?
B1: I didn't know when you'd be back... I will start it now.
B2: Great, then I'll starve until then...
B1: Why are you being like this? I said I'll start it now..
B2: [under breath] Christ..
B1: I'm sorry..
B2: Sorry.. You're sorry?! Sorry isn't going to fill my stomach.. Is it?
B1: I.. I..
B2: HUH? Speak up!
B1: Honey, please calm...
B2: Don't you EVER tell me to calm down...
B1: ...
B2: Get your ass out there and make my dinner!
B1: Alr-
B2: Now!
B1: [gets up and walks by him] Please stop..
B2: [grabs her] Did I tell you to speak?!
B1: St-
B2: Shut up! Shut your mouth!
B1: You're hurting me..
B2: [slaps across face] How about now?
B1: [crying] Please stop...
B2: [slaps again] SHUT UP!!!
B1: .... [sobbing]
B2: [shoves her] Now get to work!

Notice there was not an "A" in there. There were 5 "A's" in this true story. One child and three adults.

This adds to the idea of bystanders sitting back while this thing happens often. In many cases, the sheer shock of the occurrence keeps them quiet and frozen in these situations.
